You will be responsible for supporting the company’s commercial legal function, and for managing and overseeing both inbound and outbound contract negotiations and drafting (such as critical supply chain contracts and day-to-day vendor contracts, as well as reseller contracts and customer end user agreements). The ideal candidate is a lawyer with wide experience in government procurement processes and regulations, plus familiarity with how B2B deals work in a channel sales model and how privacy and data protection issues show up in commercial transactions. We are an “in the office” company and this role is based in one of our major offices in San Mateo, CA, Salt Lake City, UT, Austin, TX, or New York, NY.What You’ll Be Expected To DoNegotiate and draft a wide variety of technology-related B2B commercial agreements (including multi-jurisdictional transactions, hardware, software, and cloud sales deals and reseller and distributor agreements), as well as a variety of vendor contractsThink on your feet to negotiate and draft contracts quickly and practically in order to facilitate fast closure of end customer dealsBe excited to develop and maintain in-depth working knowledge of Verkada productsBe comfortable taking risks while still managing a reasonable compliance postureBuild relationships with people and leaders across the organizationDevelop systems to automate and bring efficiency to the contract review process in order to scale the work over timeBe ready to roll up your sleeves and wear multiple hats to help the company growWhat You’ll NeedJ.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school and admission to a state bar6+ years of relevant legal experience (preferably with at least 2 years of in-house counsel experience at a technology company) Deep experience negotiating and drafting B2B software, hardware, and cloud commercial contracts and license agreements, as well as a wide variety of vendor contracts and other types of commercial agreementsStrong knowledge of data privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, etc.Experience with government procurement processes and regulationsExperience working with contract lifecycle management (CLM) platforms, such as IronClad, as well as Google Workspace Ability to work independently but also collaborate effectively with a teamExcellent legal and business judgment with the ability to provide practical, concise adviceProven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize,and meet deadlinesExcellent verbal and written communication skills with a high degree of attention to detailUS Employee BenefitsVerkada is committed to fostering a workplace environment that prioritizes the holistic health and wellbeing of our employees and their families by offering comprehensive wellness perks, benefits, and resources.
