DIRECT HIRE ONLY POSITION
Position Title: ICU RN (This is an acute care, direct-hire, RN position)
Position Type: Direct Hire
Schedule: Nights, 3x12s, 7p-7a, EOW required.
Pay Rate: $35-38/hr commensurate with skills/experience
Shift Differential: 7p-7a is $4.00 an hour; Weekend Differential 11:00pm Friday through 11:30pm Sunday is $4.00 an hour; Holiday Differential is 50% of base rate (6 major holidays). The Differentials will stack, and yes, the Sign-on Bonus will be discussed (by the facility)
Education/Training:
• Associates or Bachelors Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university; required.
• Nursing Diploma program completed during or before the 1980s accepted in lieu of a degree.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); preferred.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
• Registered Nurse License Issued by the Kansas State Board of Nursing; required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred upon hire; must be obtained within six months of hire.
• ICU RN: Trauma Nursing Core Course issued by the Emergency Nurses Association preferred upon hire, must be obtained within six months of hire.
• ICU RN: NIH Stroke Scale Certification required. Must be obtained within six months of hire.
Experience Required:
• Two years of experience; required
Position Summary:
• The Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of professional nursing care to patients; including assessment, direct physical care, evaluation, teaching, and counseling. Ensures delegated care is consistent with patient/family needs. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Demonstrates the ability to assess and evaluate data including:
o Systematic and ongoing assessment based on patient/family diagnoses/problem list;
o Diagnostic tests results and other clinical information;
o Response to medical and/or nursing care/treatment;

2. Recognizes and reports changes in patient condition.
3. Demonstrates patient/family focus in the provision of care, adhering to standards.
4. Ensures delegated nursing care for patients/families is provided according to plans developed by treatment team and within the confines of the applicable practice acts.
5. Utilizes critical thinking to evaluate the effectiveness of care.
6. Assists patients and families to integrate the impact of illness and recovery into their lifestyles through patient education.
7. Collaborates with care providers in meeting patient care needs.
8. Performs care interventions in accordance with the Kansas Nurse Practice Act.
9. Communicates progress towards expected outcomes.
10. Responds to potential risk/hazard to themselves and others.
11. Supports effective communication through utilizing systems that enable opportunities for input regarding patient care issues.
12. Documents assessments, treatments, re-evaluations, and patient responses to treatment per hospital policies and procedures.
1. Participates regularly in educational activities related to practice. Collaborates with mentor to identify learning needs and seeks experiences to develop clinical skills.
2. Develops a clinical knowledge base for populations served that is age appropriate, culturally specific and diagnosis appropriate.
3. Contributes to the establishment of an ethical environment that supports the rights of all participants.
4. Participates in resolving ethical problems or dilemmas of individuals or systems.
5. Provides advocacy, protection, and support for patient rights, family involvement, and patient/family decision-making.
6. Remains calm and functions as a team member during times of stress and crisis situations.
7. Seeks involvement in activities that promote professional growth and behavior.
8. Actively participates on appropriate committees and QA/PI activities.
9. Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens.
10. Uses good body mechanics.
11. Informs Manager or Chief Nursing Officer of applicable day-to-day situations.
12. Follows employee health and other personnel and staffing policies.
13. Maintains patient/hospital confidentiality at all times.
