Now Hiring: Assistant Store Manager – The Black Cow Café (Montrose, CA)

Location: Montrose, CA
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20 - $23 per hour + tips
Shifts: Combination of hourly and manager shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

The Black Cow Café is a Montrose staple, serving delicious, scratch-made food and specialty coffee in a welcoming, community-focused environment. We take pride in our all-day menu , friendly service, and commitment to quality. We’re looking for an Assistant Store Manager to help lead our team, ensuring smooth daily operations while maintaining our high standards for food and hospitality. This is a hands-on leadership role , perfect for someone passionate about both great food and great people !

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead shifts and oversee daily operations when acting as manager
  • Assist in opening and closing duties , including cash handling, inventory management, and team oversight
  • Work alongside staff in hourly shifts , helping with food prep, customer service, and general operations
  • Train and support team members , ensuring consistency in service and food quality
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance with food safety regulations
  • Handle customer interactions and problem-solve issues as needed
  • Monitor and assist with ordering, inventory, and sales tracking
  • Collaborate with upper management to implement policies and improve workflow
What We’re Looking For:
  • Previous restaurant or café leadership experience  
  • Strong team leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • A positive attitude and a passion for hospitality and customer service
  • Willingness to work hands-on in all areas of the café, including cooking, serving, and cleaning
  • Familiarity with POS systems, scheduling, and basic financial reporting is a plus
  • Flexible schedule availability , including weekends and holidays
