SPORT PROGRAM COORDINATOR INTERN DESCRIPTION Great opportunity to experience the sports industry up close and personal! The Boston Ski & Sports Club (BSSC) is a 55-year-old company that serves 50K participants annually. BSSC is recruiting an energetic, detail-oriented sports intern to assist with its Spring & Summer sports leagues & programs. Help the sports department with a variety of field and office tasks, to ensure that all fields and facilities are set up and ready for play, meet and greet players at various night leagues and assist with administrative tasks which may span other areas of the business. The position pays $16 per hour and can be 30-40 hours per week with varied hours between 10am and 11pm, including weekend work. It is possible that some of the administrative requirements each week can be done remotely (telecommuting). Start date is estimated as mid-May (but could be as early as April 1) and runs through mid-August. This is your chance to work for a fun, casual company located in Waltham, MA and be involved with Boston's largest recreational sports programs. Sport Intern Responsibilities: - Act as BSSC liaison to team representatives and players, to complete necessary facility/league logistics (i.e., greet teams, prepare, and distribute supplies).
- Foster positive relationships and encourage on-going league participation while at the same time promoting other BSSC leagues and activities.
- Conduct field setup (i.e., outdoor volleyball nets), repair (i.e., soccer goals/nets) and maintenance work (bailing water from SB fields, lining boundaries) as needed.
- Distribute products from sponsors to participants.
- Take video and photos of teams and games to share on social media platforms.
- Handle phone calls, emails, registrations, rosters and standings.
- Perform other office administrative tasks and projects as needed.
Sport Intern Requirements: - Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Sport Management, Business Management or Marketing.
- Excellent customer service and sales orientation (i.e., outgoing, friendly, polite, helpful).
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfort and experience with public speaking.
- Strong communication and attention to detail.
- Sound professional judgment, team attitude, initiative, and responsibility.
- Strong work ethic with ability to work nights and weekends.
- Must own or have access to a car throughout duration of internship.
- Love of the game.
