Job Duties
The Deputy Clerk (Grade 8) position is assigned operational
responsibilities in a high volume, fast-paced office with frequent deadlines. This position must ensure court instructions are executed correctly and legal documents are prepared with accuracy and in accordance with state and local policies and procedures. Deputy Clerk must provide excellent, accurate, and informational customer service in person and by phone.
Duties include, but are not limited to, preparing detailed court
documents in accordance with established guidelines, entering data into an automated Case Management System, imaging case files, scheduling matters for court, preparing correspondence and legal documents, assessing fines and costs, customer service at front counter, answering phones, filing court documents, daily docket preparation, and attending court sessions. The selected individual must possess the ability to professionally interact with diverse customers from attorneys, law enforcement, and various agency staff to the general public and provide excellent customer service. Must be able to multitask and enjoy
working in a fast-paced, high-volume office with tight deadlines in a
results-oriented teamwork environment. Must be able to assume additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent is required, college preferred. Applicants with prior court experience will be given preferential consideration. Favored applicants will be able to work independently, as well as part of a team, and manage changing priorities. Time management skills and fast, accurate: data entry/computer skills are required as well as verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Considerations
Prior knowledge of court and judicial system preferred.
