Key Responsibilities The Opportunity The Regional Director of Operations (RDO) will represent overall corporate vision, planning, direction and control to assigned facilities within the Five Star Senior Living portfolio. The successful leader must set objectives, monitor performance, train and develop team members while focusing on the integrity of ingredients and techniques in operations. The regional director of operations is the critical link between corporate initiatives and standards and the operating realities of the field. The RDO specifically will conduct regular and in-depth site visits related to quality assurance, engagement of the executive directors, attendance at resident council meetings and delivery of Quarterly Business Reviews at each facility.
The RDO will be an active participant in working with each of their facilities to drive resident satisfaction through customized menu engineering, programming and communication efforts. The RDO will also work collaboratively with the system-level leadership and corporate office to help design and ultimately implement positive program change, innovation and standards of operation. This position reports directly to the regional vice president of the senior living culinary group.

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE: - Participate in the development and management of clinical operations and capital budgets
- Owns the financial results/P&L for assigned territory, and works with leadership team to ensure accuracy for reporting, forecasting, and budgeting processes
Drive Results - Communicate objectives, reinforce high standards, monitor performance, and address team issues.
- Develop, implement and maintain operational policies, procedures and standards aimed at achieving defined goals and initiatives of the greater organization.
- Responsible for compliance of the fresh food philosophy, implementation of Five Star programs and standards.
What You'll Bring Experience & Education - BS/BA in Food Science, Nutrition, Culinary Arts, Hotel/Restaurant/Hospitality Management preferred
- Minimum 8 years related experience at in a multiunit role, multi-concept and/or district manager level.
- Demonstrated success, recognition, and achievement delivering high-quality, positive, sustained results
Business Perspective - Successfully demonstrated effective project implementation and change management through organizational agility and leadership
- High aptitude for negotiation and influence on internal team members and external clients/vendors, driving collaboration and strategic planning aimed for growth and long term success.
- Strong sense of budgets and contract management, recognizing the connections between a P&L, the business climate, and the people working on the front lines.
Location Information Five Star Senior Living's corporate headquarters are located in Newton, Massachusetts. Just 20 minutes outside of downtown Boston, the building features easy access to public transportation and the Massachusetts Turnpike.
