Our client is an established food company that manufactures a variety of products from chips and pizza, to sliced meats and frozen items. They are looking to add a Food Scientist (fried foods/baked goods) to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$90k - $100k Depending on experience
Position Overview:
The Food Scientist (fried foods/baked goods) will work in the R&D department to develop new products and ensure appropriate labeling and nutritional data, as well as compliance with federal guidelines.
Responsibilities of the Food Scientist (fried foods/baked goods):
- Develop new product concepts, formulations, and recipes.
- Ensure formulas are meeting quality and consumer needs while optimizing price and nutrition.
- Research market trends, products, and technology to enhance the existing products.
- Test and evaluate samples to ensure product quality.
- Approve nutritional data and labeling of products.
- Collaborate with Production to ensure quality, safety, labeling, and distribution standards are met.
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations (USDA/FDA).
- Modify existing products to enhance marketability.
- Analyze cost information for product development.
- Maintain precise records.
- Scale up production from trial stages to manufacturing.
- Conduct preservation trials and manage product stability testing.
- Travel to suppliers and manufacturers up to 25% of the time.
Qualifications for the Food Scientist (fried foods/baked goods):
- 4+ years of experience in food manufacturing working with fried foods or baked goods.
- Good knowledge of FDA, USDA, and HACCP guidelines.
- Strong organization and communication skills.
- The Food Scientist (fried foods/baked goods) should have strong problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of food science and food safety.
- Willing to travel up to 25% of the time.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or a related field is required for the Food Scientist (fried foods/baked goods).
