- The scope of work for a Respiratory Therapist includes assessment, therapeutic intervention and education for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders or associated complications.
- Respiratory therapists assess individuals to prevent, detect, monitor and manage disease and complications.
- Provide therapeutic interventions to directly impact cardiopulmonary health as well as overall health status according to established goals and interdisciplinary care plans.
- Provide education to promote preventative care, self management, enhanced cardiopulmonary health and quality of life.
- Perform regular assessments of patients and the equipment they are using in order to adjust therapy.
- Collect and/or analyze patients' blood and other specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide and other gases.
- Measure the patient's lung capacity to determine if there are any impairments.
- Offer diagnosis results and treatment suggestions based on the analysis of the patient.
Job Requirements
- One year of minimum experience.
- Required BLS, ND license.
- ACLS, PALS, NRP preferred.
Schedule Information
- Mainly schedule 12 hour shifts, but also do 8s and sometimes 4 hour shifts.
- Four hour shifts happen more with extra shifts or some of our staff are 40 hours/week and they do 3 12s and 1 4 per week.
- Shifts are 7a-7p, 7p-7a, 7a-3p, 11p-11p and 11p-7a.
- 16 hours of call in a 6 week schedule, weekends required (every other or weekend status).
- Opportunity to pick up extra shifts.
