Description Summary:
We invite applications for anAssistant/Associate Professor of Molecular Biology/Genetics/ Anatomy & Physiology position starting August 2024. This is a 9-month, full-time, faculty position in the Department of Biological Sciences at Alabama A&M University. Rank and tenure can be further considered for qualified candidates. The primary teaching responsibilities include Molecular/Cellular Biology/Genetics or Anatomy & Physiology.
Examples of Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- A commitment to excellence in teaching and research in the Biology Program as their primary responsibility.
- Teach relevant undergraduate and graduate courses, with a student-centered, active-learning approach.
- Advise undergraduate and graduate Biology major students.
- Mentor both undergraduate and graduate students in research.
- Develop an extramurally funded research program.
- Conduct scholarly activity.
- Engagement in recruitment, curriculum development, serving on committees and advising student organizations, and other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cellular Biology, Genetics, Anatomy & Physiology, or other relevant discipline in Biological Science from a regionally accredited college or university, with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the applicable discipline.
- Must have demonstrated teaching experience at the college/university level
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness in the areas of Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, and/or Anatomy & Physiology
- Must have demonstrated experience in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, and/or Genetics and Anatomy & Physiology methods and techniques where applicable.
- Must have demonstrated substantive scholarly achievement with publications in peer-reviewed journals, presentations at national meetings, etc.
- Must have demonstrated ability to obtain extramural funding from public and/or private sources
- Must be available to teach classes as needed during the day, evening, and on Saturday
- Must be willing to complete online instructor certification to teach in the online and/or hybrid formats as needed
