Job Description
J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers is looking for an Engineering Coordinator / Drafter to coordinate the engineering department's projects, documentation, and workflows (up to 50%). Drafts detailed drawings and specifications used in the manufacturing and fabricating of truck bodies, trailers, related equipment, and fabricated metal products. This individual should have experience in 3D modeling and design in Inventor and AutoCAD.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Engineering Coordinator:
  • Documents and tracks work orders in production within the department
  • Assigns work to team members, and tracks job progress, raising awareness of resource and capacity deficiencies
  • Process work orders from sales to include creating work order bills of materials, purchasing requisitions, required drawings, sourcing vendor-supplied instructions, and producing work order packages for production. Print and reproduce drawings for production.
Drafter:
  • Has demonstrated competency in the duties and responsibilities of a Jr. Drafter/Designer.
  • Create drawings from sketches, actual parts, or instructions.
  • Modify existing designs to meet specific work order requirements.
  • Create proposal and layout drawings for visual assistance between sales, customer, and production teams.
  • Create machine program files.
  • Observes and complies with all provisions of ISO 9001 QMS.
  • Observes and complies with all safety rules, always including the use of PPE.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • May be assigned to lead work teams assigned to specific tasks.
  • Responsible for training and mentoring less experienced Drafters/Designers and participating in their ongoing development.
Education and Experience
  • Associate degree (A. S.) from a two-year college, university, high school, or post-secondary diploma in a related technical field and two years of related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
