Job Description
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
As the Area Director, you will be responsible for the overall management and administration of programs/services and new development throughout the Columbus area. This includes budget development and implementation, rate negotiation, licensing, strategic evaluation and planning, staff development, hiring and supervision of program directors and assigned support staff, policy development, marketing, and proposal development. The Area Director will establish supportive relationships with persons served, families, guardians, and funders. Our Area Director will oversee Supporting Living programs and also our Foster Care program.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • Maintain ultimate responsibility for the management and supervision of all personnel in Area
  • Supervise the Lead Program Directors, Program Directors, and Foster Care Social Workers, including hiring, orientation, ongoing monitoring of performance, provision of feedback, evaluation, etc
  • Indirectly supervise program staff and contractors through the Lead Program Directors, Program Directors and Foster Care Social Workers, including hiring, orientation, ongoing monitoring of performance and provision of feedback, evaluation, etc.
  • Assure that programs are in compliance with all applicable Licensure, Certification, and Contract Standards
  • Assure that all services provided are of the highest possible quality.
  • Develop and monitor budgeted gross margin for the area
  • Proactively anticipate financial changes and challenges to Area
  • Analyze and monitor the fiscal needs and contributions of Area as it impacts the overall State performance
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive training program for personnel and contractors.
  • Provide and ensure the provision of orientation and ongoing training for Program Directors, to assist them in developing and maintaining a program and environment which offers the maximum benefit to the customer
  • Prepare and present proposals regarding new business opportunities, and assist in the evaluation of those opportunities
Qualifications
WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT:
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Behavioral Science related field.
  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW) is strongly preferred
  • Minimum 4+ years supervisory experience, in a human services or residential setting required, including hiring, disciplining, and terminating employees.
  • Prior experience in residential programs for individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Must have good decision-making and communication skills, be responsible, mature, and flexible.
  • Must have prior experience in financial management of programs, including but not limited to developing and implementing financial budgets, and participating in rate negotiations.
  • Must possess good decision-making, time-management, and communication skills.
  • Must have ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.
  • Must be an experienced and influential leader.
