Job Overview:
As a Production Technician in the pharmaceutical manufacturing group, you will be responsible for ensuring that the production equipment operates according to specified standards, maintaining product integrity, and supporting the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products in compliance with GMP standards. This position requires strong technical skills in cleanroom/aseptic environments, equipment preparation, and process oversight. You will be involved in managing the operation of automated equipment, troubleshooting production issues, and ensuring that all components and materials are properly prepared, tested, and documented.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate equipment used in the production process according to specifications.
  • Adjust filler and labeler equipment as necessary to ensure accurate portioning of products.
  • Assemble containers and components for the portioning process, ensuring proper setup.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks following equipment setup, including disinfection and autoclaving, to maintain cleanliness of equipment.
  • Sign in bulk containers and verify lot numbers against the paperwork to ensure accurate recordkeeping.
  • Order and stock necessary supplies to support daily operations.
  • Portion materials into containers under safe production conditions, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Assemble and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure safety during production.
  • Monitor inventory levels and address any shortages promptly.
  • Verify quantities (cases vs. boxes vs. individual units) to ensure order accuracy.
  • Operate and troubleshoot automated labeling and bagging equipment.
  • Check and update the mainframe systems and SAP as required for traceability and documentation.
  • Maintain records for accountability and ensure procedure traceability.
  • Document all tests, measurements, and calibrations performed during operations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and workstations during and after shifts.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives by suggesting common-sense cost-saving ideas and supporting testing of new changes.
  • Follow all safety procedures and immediately report any situation that could compromise safety or quality.
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned, including maintaining exemplary attendance and adhering to the schedule.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School diploma, GED, or HSED required.
  • 2+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in cleanroom/aseptic environments and equipment operation.
  • Strong mechanical inclination and eye-hand coordination, with the ability to use hand and air tools and operate material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety rules, SOPs, and FMP procedures.
  • Basic math skills, including metric conversions.
  • Ability to read, follow instructions, and understand oral and written communication.
  • Ability to handle chemicals and hazardous materials, with proper training and PPE.
  • Proficient in using computers, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and SAP systems.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to train and assist others in performing job duties.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • College coursework in chemistry or 6 months of previous experience weighing chemicals.
  • Certification and experience in aseptic filling processes, equipment cleaning, preparation, and assembly.
  • Experience in stopper prep, capping, and packaging.
  • Knowledge of batch record reviews and SOP revisions.
