About the Role

The Company is in search of an Executive Director with a deep passion for its mission and a strategic vision for its future. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with a proven track record in management, fundraising, and coalition building. Key responsibilities for the Executive Director include being a strong and inclusive communicator, capable of articulating the organization's mission with enthusiasm to diverse audiences. The role demands a leader with experience in developing sustainable financial and operating strategies, as well as a background in nonprofit, business, or public organization management. The successful candidate will also be adept at program and budget development, and have a strong commitment to mentoring and empowering staff to foster a positive organizational culture.In addition to the core competencies of leadership, management, fundraising, and coalition building, the Executive Director must have a genuine connection to nature and the outdoors. Nonprofit management experience is desired, and a bachelor's degree is required, with a master's degree being preferred. The role also requires exceptional interpersonal skills, cultural competency, and a commitment to inclusion and equity. The Executive Director will be expected to have a proven ability to expand and diversify the organization's funding base, and to work effectively with individuals, nonprofit coalitions, public entities, and politicians. A background in philanthropy, conservation, environmental education, advocacy, policy, law, or related fields is a plus, but not mandatory.
