The Goodwin University School of Applied Liberal Arts and of Social Sciences invites applications for the Assistant Professor of Psychology position. To be considered for this position, the applicant should have a master's degree in psychology and experience teaching undergraduate psychology courses.
Full-time faculty members at Goodwin University are responsible for upholding the highest academic standards in their fields. They teach 15 credit hours each semester, across three semesters a year, both on campus and online (synchronous and asynchronous). They are expected to stay informed about developments in their disciplines and teaching methods, participate in university, professional, and community service, and engage in scholarly activities related to teaching and learning.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:
Primary Teaching Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver course content through university-approved syllabi and Canvas course shells, ensuring curricular alignment, pedagogical effectiveness, and disciplinary currency
  • Assess and document student learning outcomes according to established course guidelines
  • Adapt teaching methods based on assessment data and student performance metrics
  • Maintain required office hours and consistent class schedules
  • Provide timely, constructive responses to student communications and concerns
  • Submit accurate attendance records, grades, and required documentation by established deadlines
Academic Collaboration:
  • Partner with faculty in developing, implementing, and evaluating program outcomes through systematic assessment
  • Participate actively in university, school, and departmental meetings
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives and support team objectives
  • Engage in service activities benefiting the school, University, and profession
Professional Development and Scholarship:
  • Advance disciplinary knowledge through scholarly work, including publications and presentations
  • Participate in professional development to remain current with educational trends and teaching innovations
  • Stay informed of and implement evidence-based teaching practices
Administrative and Compliance:
  • Uphold Goodwin's mission, policies, and core values
  • Adhere to all Faculty Handbook policies and procedures
  • Follow established safety protocols and workplace practices
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the Director of Psychology or Dean

Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • A master's degree in psychology, with a doctoral degree preferred
  • Commitment to fostering the academic, social-emotional, and professional growth of all students
  • Proven track record of teaching psychology courses in both on-campus and online settings (synchronous and asynchronous)
  • Familiarity with current trends and practices in curriculum development and instructional design
  • Ability to analyze, synthesize, and interpret student learning outcome data to enhance teaching and learning
  • Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing web-based applications and learning management systems
  • Established ability to connect effectively with others in the higher education environment
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities
