The VA North Texas Health Care System is a progressive provider in the heart of Texas. Cytotechnologist - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
Collect adequate and properly labeled specimens.Properly determine current clinician orders in the computer, per Laboratory procedures.Process specimens for testing and/or shipment to another laboratory for testing.Maintains adequate stock of supplies and rotates stock as needed to ensure supplies are used according to expiration dates.Assists in cleaning and maintaining all used equipment and workspace daily.The Cytotechnologist receives specimens and accompanying request forms for any of the tests that can be performed, and checks each for proper identification.Communicate the daily status and problems about the laboratory output to team members and senior management of the service.The Cytotechnologist processes laboratory specimens per the VA, The Joint Commission, and the College of American Pathologists.
Cytotechnologist - REQUIREMENTS
A baccalaureate degree and graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health.Education Programs (CAAHEP) cytotechnology program.Certification by ASCP as a Cytologist (CT).
