The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus will open in the Spring of 2025. This 469,000 square foot facility will be home to UI Health Care's nationally recognized Orthopedics service line, offering comprehensive, coordinated, and accessible care across the outpatient, inpatient, and surgical venues. These state-of-the-art clinical facilities will also include a full-service community imaging center, laboratory services, physical therapy, retail pharmacy, and emergency department as well as an array of support services. The Emergency Department is seeking a 90% Paramedic, who under direct supervision of an Emergency Department staff physician and/or Emergency Department Nurse Manager/designee will assist with basic emergency patient care services in the Emergency Department at the Medical Center North Liberty.

Duties to include:

Assists registered nurses and/or LIP's in the delivery of patient care, with regard to patient condition and age.Performs patient care in compliance with the Iowa Department of Public Health Paramedic Scope of Practice related to:

Maintaining Airway/BreathingAssessment i. Blood Chemistry AnalysisPharmacological InterventionsEmergency Trauma Care i. Cervical Stabilization (manual)Medical/Cardiac Care

Completes Point of Care (POC) testing.Provides psychological support to the patient and family based on assessed needs.Communicates any pertinent changes in patient condition or disposition and report unusual incidents.Performs related and routine clerical tasks pursuant to performing the aforementioned duties.Other duties as assigned.Our primary and specialty care is provided by experts from all medical specialties, attracting patients from around the world. Percent of Time:

90% - 36 hours per week

Schedule:

Week days (Monday through Friday), rotating days off each week, shifts will rotate between days, evenings, and nights

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

Graduation from high school, andCurrent paramedic certification by the Iowa Department of Public Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, andCurrent course completion card in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association, andCurrent course completion card in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) by the American Heart AssociationDesirable Qualifications:

Minimum one (1) year advanced life support field experience as an emergency response paramedic, or current ER experience with a history of advanced life support field experience is highly desired.Prefer applicants with the following certifications:

Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)Critical care Paramedic (CCP)Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS)

Prefer applicants with an Associate degree in Paramedic.
