The work is to be performed in the Health Services Department of the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) in San Diego, CA. Metropolitan Correctional Center is located at 808 Union Street, San Diego CA, 92101.RESPONSIBILITIES:
The contractor shall be responsible for, but is not limited to:Provide direct patient care services in accordance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards through the evaluation of patients and therapeutic treatment as ordered by Health Services clinical staffPerform nursing duties within the scope of the current licensureAdminister medications as prescribed i.e., by mouth, intradermally, subcutaneously, or intramuscularlyAssist with distribution of medications at pill lineMonitor and evaluate the response to therapyPerform skin testingPerform venipuncture for the purpose of obtaining laboratory specimensRecord and document patient care activities on appropriate records such as health historyRecord diagnostic testing, i.e., venipuncture for laboratory studies, visual acuity testing, EKGs (per instructions from mid-level practitioners or physicians)Process lab work to include filing on a daily basis.Maintain accurate logs of all reports in accordance with Bureau of Prisons and JACHO policyScreen laboratory tests/results for normal/abnormal lad values and notify the physician or physiciansEnsure all sharps are secured, accounted for, stored and disposed of according to institutional and national policyAssist the mid-level practitioners and physicians in the management and oversight of chronic careclinicsReview clinical records to ensure data is entered legibly and in the appropriate section of the medicalrecordPossess knowledge of treatment of chronic health problems, i.e., hypertension, diabetes, and asthmaInitiate emergency care as needed according to community standardsMaintain patient privacy and confidentialityAdhere to infection control policies and proceduresAbility and skill to operate EKG and laboratory equipmentKnowledge of mental health disorders and must have the ability to screen for gross mood changesAbility to provide basic first aid, prevention care, and guidance in treating a variety of commonillnesses/injuriesPerform duties as required but accept only those nursing assignments that are commensurate with his/her educational preparation, training, experience, and nursing licensure laws.QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:Must submit a detailed resumeValid and current registration as an LVN in any State in the U.S.Minimum of 1-year experience within the last three yearsProof of immunizationsProof of CPR CertificationSCHEDULE:
Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays), normally between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Some nights and/or weekends may be required. Flexibility is a must.PAY RATE:
$27.87 per hour
