Job Summary:To serve as a leader in the pharmacy department by having ownership and accountability for a specific process. To assure that pharmacy operations confirm to established federal and state regulations, university policies, and procedures, and TJC standards and provide for the highest level of delivery of optimum pharmaceutical care.

Education & Experience

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA/GED PLUS FOUR YEARS OF JOB SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE THAT IS DEEMED SUFFICIENT FOR PROVIDING LEADERSHIP AND OWNERSHIP OF PHARMACY SPECIFIC PROCESS. PREFERRED THAT EXPERIENCE OBTAINED IN RELATED WORK UNIT AT UMMC.

C ERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

PHARMACY TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATION ADMINISTERED BY THE PHARMACY TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATION BOARD (PTCB) OR ExCPT CERTIFICATION ADMINISTERED BY THE NATIONAL HEALTHCARE ASSOCIATED (NHA). CURRENT UMMC EMPLOYEES WHO WERE GRANDFATHERED IN BY MS BOP ARE EXEMPT FROM CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT.,PHARMACY TECHNICIAN REGISTRATION WITH THE MISSISSIPPI STATE BOARD OF PHARMACY

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE OF PROCEDURES AND STANDARDS FOR THE LABELING AND DISPENSING OF PRESCRIBED MEDICATIONS. KNOWLEDGE OF MEDICAL AND PHARMACEUTICAL TERMINOLOGY, CALCULATIONS, PHARMACEUTICAL TECHNIQUES AND LAWS. SKILL IN USE OF PERSONAL COMPUTERS AND RELATED SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS. ABILITY TO MAINTAIN RECORDS AND PRESENT FINDINGS OF AUDITS.

RESPONSIBILITIES

PROVIDE OVERSIGHT AND EXECUTION OF HIGH LEVEL PHARMACY TECHNICIAN PROCESSES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO PHARMACY AUTOMATION, INVENTORY MANAGEMENT, CLINICAL TRIAL COORDINATION, OVERSIGHT OF NARCOTIC RECORD KEEPING AND RECONCILIATION, OR OTHER SPECIALIZED SERVICEPERFORM QUALITY ASSURANCE AUDITS; ENSURES COMPLIANCE WITH APPLICABLE FEDERAL AND STATE REGULATIONS AND TJC STANDARDSPARTICIPATES IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF QUALITY IMPROVEMENT MEASURES; MAINTAINS RECORDS AND GENERATES REPORTS AS NEEDEDASSIST WITH THE PREPARATION OF MEDICATIONS AND RELATED TRANSPORTATION AS NEEDEDTHE DUTIES LISTED ARE GENERAL IN NATURE AND ARE EXAMPLES OF THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PERFORMED AND ARE NOT MEANT TO BE CONSTRUED AS EXCLUSIVE OR ALL-INCLUSIVE.
