The CHS Middletown School Food Service Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supervising the kitchen food production for all classrooms, and catered functions. This individual is expected to ensure food quality standards, are accurately coordinated for daily meals and occasional events. This individual should be skilled at planning and coordination and should have an interest in working in an environment with young children. This individual will process menu and order changes to ensure there is sufficient inventory at the Center. The Food Service Coordinator will ensure the school meets and maintains process and safety standards. The Food Service Coordinator reports to the School Operations Manager and provides a report on risks and issues. Starting pay for this position is in the range of $17 to $19 per hour, based on experience.Responsibilities:Conducting periodic meetings to review the menu, catering, and techniques of the food service facilityPerforming sanitation and safety checks and implementing corrective procedures where necessaryMaintaining compliance to health regulations and completing reports and documents to substantiate such auditsReporting maintenance concernsStaying up to date on health trends and researchCompleting production forecasts and advanced planning for purchase ordersCompiling accurate data on food related itemsWorking with food vendors to fulfill needsConducting meetings to relay any changes to staffTracking and understanding student allergies and dietary needs and communicating those needs to appropriate staff members as neededEnsuring staff compliance with HACCP standards and safety proceduresAuditing expenses to ensure they are within budget guidelines, and assisting with cost recovery operationsRecording accurate information on weekly and monthly reports and keeping that data for future forecastingCompleting audit and training logsExhibiting positive relations towards children, families and staff when responding to questions and communicationsAttending monthly meetings with other members of the Center and department meetings as needed

Qualifications:High School Diploma or GEDServSafe Food Handlers Certification2 years of experience in food related fieldFirst Aid, CPR, AED certificationsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment with changing prioritiesResponsible, enthusiastic, and cares about working in a mission-focused environmentDemonstrated understanding of and ability to effectively work with low-income families (preferred)Ability to proactively identify problems and implement solutionsWillingness to be held accountable and receive feedbackComfortability with technology including MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and/or willingness to learnExceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to influence, lead, educate teamsCommitment to the mission and values of CHS and MHS and demonstrated high degree of integrity as all MHS and CHS staff are considered to be role models for studentsAble to work 8am to 5pm each day, Monday through Friday, with some flexibility to work earlier/later based on Center needs.Commitment to the mission and values of CHS and MHS and demonstrated high degree of integrity as all MHS and CHS staff are considered to be role models for children.U.S. work authorization and successful completion of pre-employment background checks and clearances
