General Purpose

The position is responsible for functional oversight of a location or segment of a larger department. Implements business objectives, strategies, and plans and oversees daily work functions. Responsible for selecting, coaching, and developing employees and management of salaries. Implements and supports company programs and policies. May be a working supervisor.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and supervise with work of the functional group. Lead projects and initiatives.
  • Lead the functional team; direct day-to-day activities, and provide guidance and recommendations.
  • Promote safety in the workplace through education and enforcement of safe construction practices.
  • Perform quality control audits and report on accuracy levels using a standard reporting and calculation method.
  • Assist in implementing strategic business objectives, strategies and plans in support of the company’s strategic goals.
  • Work as a member of a team to establish a credible and productive working relationship with peers throughout Field Operations and Asset Management.
  • Develop and deliver training related to NESC and GO95 requirements.
  • Educate and work cooperatively with communication companies and the joint use of facilities dept. to facilitate the successful completion of overhead construction projects.
  • Supervision of employees performing joint use inspections as required.
  • Provide input into team employee performance reviews. Flag performance and personnel issues for people manager resolution.
  • Review and evaluate employee performance and prepare annual reviews.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of five years utility industry related experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in practical application of NESC rules.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills resulting in proven ability to effectively communicate.
  • High proficiency with computer applications to include Microsoft Office applications.
  • Prior experience providing training in a classroom/group setting.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and ability to communicate effectively, including listening, speaking and writing.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications equipment and construction practices as is relevant to the use of electric utility facilities.
  • Knowledge of electrical system construction, operation, and maintenance practices.
  • Travel may be required,
