Hi!

We are looking for a Lead Kitchen Supervisor for our Bakery/Commissary in Kensington! We produce all of our bagels, cream cheese and more out of this 3,000 square foot facility (plus storage unit) and need someone to lead the charge while working closely with ownership.

WHO WE ARE

Started by Jacob and Alexandra Cohen in the early days of the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic, Kismet Bagels started out 1 dozen a day out of their house in Northern LIberties, to now becoming a household name among the Philadelphia Bagel scene. With shops in Fishtown, Rittenhouse Square, Reading Terminal Market, and The Main Line (Narberth/Penn Valley), Kismet Bagels produces high quality bagels, and creates unique (but familiar) sandwiches for everyone to enjoy! We also intend to open Four more stores this year! 

THE POSITION

While producing over 20,000 bagels per week, we take great pride in creating the same wonderful high quality product over and over again, and expect our Lead Kitchen Supervisor to feel the same way, and leading a team through the process.

We want someone for this position who has minimum 2 years managerial experience as well as 2 years working with dough, can proactively and respectfully manage staff, can think on their feet and problem solve and stay highly organized as well as efficient.

Our production is for our Four Shops (with four more on the way in 2025!), as well as Farmers Markets, Catering, National Shipping, and some light Wholesale.

SCHEDULE

The Schedule for this position is Wednesday-Sunday . Currently, the hours of the staff are 10pm-6am. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a managerial role with similar experience required.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in dough production.
  • Must be Competent in Speaking Spanish (as well as English)
  • Applicants must include a cover letter, resume and 2 professional references.
  • MUST be comfortable working overnight shifts 
  • MUST have a car (we have a Private Gated parking lot)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and organization
  • Experience with managing, training and running a team
  • Leadership and management skills
  • Food prep experience
  • Experience with spreadsheets
  • Passion for producing the same quality over and over again
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Previous experience of handling inventory and ordering

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Working 2am-11am M-F
  • Direct all kitchen operations, working closely with assistant kitchen supervisor as well as ownership
  • Monitor and engage in all food production
  • Assess and maintain quality and consistency
  • Enforce protocols and sanitary practices
  • Handle all inventory and ordering
  • Train, manage and evaluate staff
  • Create and maintain team schedule
  • Assess and resolve conflicts and issues that may arise
  • Proactively communicate with direct team members and other managers in the company

COMPENSATION
Annual Salary of $80,000 - by Q4 of 2025 this will increase to $90,000, upon thereafter eligibility for annual raises. 
We also offer 80hrs PTO per year, as well as Sick Pay accrual, and Health Insurance (partial employer contribution).
