Job Summary:The Shop Mechanic will play a vital role in ensuring the proper maintenance, repair, and functionality of Peckham's heavy equipement. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions:1.

Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs of company equipment.2.

. Conduct thorough inspections to identify mechanical issues and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.3.

Utilize diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.4.

Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance activities.5.

Collaborate with operators and other team members to identify recurring issues and propose solutions to improve performance.6.

Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).7.

Order parts and supplies as needed, ensuring timely availability for repairs.9.

Requirements, Education and Experience:1.

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications preferred.2.

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a mechanic working with a heavy equipment, preferred; MA hoisting license required.3.

Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.4.

Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools.5.

Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.6.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.7.

Effective communication and teamwork abilities.8.

Valid driver’s license.9.

Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and stand for extended periods.

Travel:Position may require up to 5% travel by personal vehicle to offices throughout the state of New York, and New England based on the needs of the business.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:Heavy work includes moving objects up to 50 lb. or more. This position works on or near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment. Requires the ability to stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, bending, squatting, walking, reaching, and repetitive motion.
