Job Summary:The Paving Foreman will lead and manage paving crews in the construction and maintenance of roadways, parking lots, and other paved surfaces. This role involves overseeing all aspects of paving operations, ensuring high-quality workmanship, safety, and efficiency. The Paving Foreman will also be responsible for daily reporting, payroll entry, and tracking material quantities, while seamlessly transitioning between tasks as needed.
Essential Functions:1.

Oversee the daily activities of crew members, ensuring tasks are aligned with individual skills and expertise. Manage the training of new employees and provide ongoing guidance to enhance their performance. Communicate schedule updates, deadlines, and task completion instructions clearly. Ensure all team members comply with established safety and security protocols.2.

Accurately oversee and document daily project activities, including tracking materials delivered to and shipped from the plant, monitoring employee time sheets and equipment usage.3.
Communicate.
Coordinate with the Plant Manager on a daily basis to facilitate timely material orders, ensuring alignment with project needs.4.

Possess a strong understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in highway and road construction, as well as asphalt paving and plant operations. Effectively plan and allocate resources, manage production processes, and coordinate personnel and equipment to optimize project efficiency.5.
Determined.
Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of and commitment to industry best practices, particularly regarding safety protocols and leading safety programs, ensuring a safe and productive work environment.6.
Respect and engage.
Maintain a professional, courteous, and respectful communication style when engaging with the public and customers. Address and resolve customer inquiries or complaints promptly and appropriately.7.
Protect family and friends.
Oversee the safe and responsible operation of vehicles and equipment, ensuring that liquid asphalt, aggregates, PII liquid products, and other materials are transported and handled in accordance with safety guidelines.8.

Ensure that all company vehicles and equipment are maintained in optimal condition, kept free from damage, and consistently cleaned as part of routine upkeep.9.

Proactively resolve on-site issues before they escalate, including quality concerns, scheduling conflicts, or crew disputes, to maintain project efficiency and a positive work environment.
Requirements, Education and Experience:1.
High school diploma or equivalent; further technical training or certifications in paving or construction management is a plus.2.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in paving or construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.3.
Must be able to work variable hours including day shifts, night shifts, some weekend hours, and overtime.4.
Strong knowledge of paving materials, equipment, techniques, and safety practices a plus. An understanding of job cost also beneficial.5.
Proven ability to manage and motivate a team.6.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and project specifications.7.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.8.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient verbal and written English required.9.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.10.

Travel:Position may require up to 100% travel by personal vehicle to project locations throughout the state of Massachusetts and New England based on the needs of the business.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:This position works outdoors in hot, humid and/or inclement weather. Heavy work that includes moving objects up to 100 lb. or more. This position works on or near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment. Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion.
