3300 Level 1 RN Full Time (40 Hours)
Required: NYS RN Licensure Required
Certifications Required: BLS through AHA/RQI specifically

Complete Description:
The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient need, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patient’s episode. The Dialysis RN develops specialized skill in the area of patient admitted for medical conditions. He/She provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical conditions. The Dialysis RN is accountable for patient family education to assist in understanding self care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. The Dialysis Registered Nurse is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a Healing Environment.

Job Functions
-Performs admission and discharge assessments prior to and at the completion of the dialysis treatment. Based on assessment, plans patient's dialysis treatment. Documents any deviation from the norm and treatment plan.

-Demonstrates proficiency in the use of hemodialysis equipment and peritoneal dialysis exchanges. Demonstrates familiarity with emergency equipment

-Completes an initial assessment on primary patients. Educates the patient on an on-going basis to ensure optimal well being in all aspects of renal health. Reviews primary patients on a quarterly basis and collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure all aspects of the patient's care have been addressed

-On an annual basis, completes their primary patients’ Interdisciplinary Care Plan in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.

-Acts as a liaison in coordinating patient care activities within the healthcare system
