We are currently seeking a skilled Quality Assurance Technician to join our team and contribute to the ongoing success of our facility in Winchester, Virginia!
About the Role
The Quality Assurance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the production of high-quality finished goods within our food production facility. This position is responsible for implementing and monitoring comprehensive food safety and quality control programs. The technician's diligence ensures compliance with regulatory standards, customer specifications, and company policies.
This is a Monday-to-Friday role, with some weekends or overtime as needed.
We offer a competitive hourly rate of $22-24/hour plus benefits.
Responsibilities?
Adhere to the company's Code of Conduct, GMP policies, and all internal procedures, while performing additional duties as assigned by management.
Monitor production processes for compliance with company programs and policies, including but not limiting to GMPs, HACCP, as FDA regulations.
Conduct quality checks on raw materials, in-process products, finished goods, CCP verification, packaging, and labeling.
Perform pre-operational inspections and daily sanitation verifications to ensure plant cleanliness and readiness.
Collect samples for microbiological and chemical testing with accurate record-keeping.
Identify and escalate food safety or quality issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Inspect packaging materials and labels for accuracy and compliance with specifications.
Maintain detailed records for inspections, tests, and corrective actions per HACCP, SQF, and other programs.
Support customer, regulatory, and third-party audits with preparation and participation.
Provide food safety and quality training to production staff while supporting compliance efforts.
Collaborate with other teams, including production to troubleshoot and recommend process improvements.
Support the QA Manager in maintaining quality and food safety programs, including HACCP, GMP, and SQF.
Conduct physical, analytical, and sensory testing of finished products, as needed, ensuring adherence to standards.
Propose process improvements, participate in risk assessments for new or improved products or systems, and develop action plans to address recurring quality or food safety challenges.
Qualifications ????
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field preferred.
2 years of experience in food manufacturing quality assurance or a related field.
HACCP certification and knowledge of SQF, AIB, and FDA standards.
Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other data entry systems.
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds; perform repetitive tasks such as bending, squatting, and reaching.
Ability to stand for extended periods and work in noisy, cold, or hot environments with appropriate safety gear.
Occasional travel to off-site locations, such as farms or co-packers, may be required.
