    Job Details
  • Job Summary: Nursing position in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMU) at Wheeling Hospital.
  • Unit: IMU - Intermediate Care Unit (Cost Center 6010)
  • Number of Beds: 30-Beds (14 Private & 16 Semi-private)
  • Patient Ratios: Goal is 1:4, usually running 1:5, occasionally 1:6
  • Common Diagnoses: Chest pain, r/o MI, CHF, Arrhythmias, post pacer, pre/post Caths, Tikosyn therapy management.
    Job Requirements
  • Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • State License Requirements: Must have an unexpired copy of the candidate's driver's license.
    Schedule Information
  • Shift Details: 12-hour shifts, must be on the unit by 6:45 am/pm, shifts run from 7a - 7p.
  • Weekend Requirement: Must work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; flexibility required for holidays.
  • Self-scheduling allowed as long as unit needs are met; staff can request 4 days off per month.
    Unit Specific Information
  • Tele Monitors: Nihon Kohden
  • Nurses must be able to read and interpret their own telemetry strips.
  • RN's must be able to titrate drips: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetolol, Nitro, Heparin, and occasionally Lasix.
    Additional Details
  • Travelers must be flexible with holiday shifts; typically covered by permanent staff.
  • All staff are required to float as needed into the rotation (Tele or MedSurg).
  • Floor specific orientation includes 4 hours with HR and 16 hours with a preceptor.
