Clinical Practice:

• Provides safe, quality patient care using the nursing process and documents accordingly.
• Ensures compliance with NMHS policies and requirements as directed by the Nurse Manager and Educator.

Education:

• Delivers patient/family education and acts as a resource for existing staff and new employees.
• Participates in Preceptor classes to ensure proper training of new employees.

Communication:

• Maintains communication with multidisciplinary team members to provide holistic care to patients.
• Attends daily huddles on each unit to ensure proper assignments and identifies team members for the shift.

Customer Relations:

• Projects a caring, friendly, and helpful image to patients and other customers.
• Utilizes patient communication boards to keep patients and families informed.
• Complies with NMHS behavioral standards.

Self-Development:

• Maintains competency by staying informed of changing trends in nursing practice.
• Attends annual reviews and unit-specific training within the department.
• Completes required continuing education hours online and in-classroom.

Regulatory Knowledge:

• Complies with regulatory and accrediting agency requirements.
• Licensed by the Board of Nursing for the state.

Licenses/Certifications:

• RN - Registered Nurse: State licensure and/or compact state licensure required.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): Current ACR or AHA CPR certification required upon hire.
• ACLS: Requirement dependent on hiring department.
• TB Certified: Dependent on hiring department.
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support: Requirement dependent on hiring department.
• ASLS Certified: Required for Emergency Room positions.
• NIH - National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification: Required for Emergency Room positions.
