Who We Are:

We are an interdisciplinary team performing a wide variety of pharmaceutical and biomedical research, to include synthesis and health effects of environmental exposure.

Objectives of this Role:

• Evaluate water in larval habitats for quality.
• Compare natural and effluent habitats with respect to microbiota.
• Correlate water quality with larval health and microbiota.
• Evaluate environmental contaminants in water.
• Local year-round Student position.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

• Analyze water for quality, to include iron, sulfate, ammonia, phosphorus, aluminum, nitrite, nitrate and turbidity.
• Prepare water samples using solid phase extraction.
• Under supervision, analyze water samples using mass spectrometry.
• Evaluate mass spectrometric data.

Requirements:

• Must be pursuing a Masters degree in Chemistry or Biology.
• 0 years: Basic laboratory skills to include titration, volumetric measuring, and instrumental analysis.
• Technical writing skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
