Who We Are:
We are an interdisciplinary team performing a wide variety of pharmaceutical and biomedical research, to include synthesis and health effects of environmental exposure.
Objectives of this Role:
- Evaluate water in larval habitats for quality.
- Compare natural and effluent habitats with respect to microbiota.
- Correlate water quality with larval health and microbiota.
- Evaluate environmental contaminants in water.
- Local year-round Student position.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Analyze water for quality, to include iron, sulfate, ammonia, phosphorus, aluminum, nitrite, nitrate and turbidity.
- Prepare water samples using solid phase extraction.
- Under supervision, analyze water samples using mass spectrometry.
- Evaluate mass spectrometric data.
Requirements:
- Must be pursuing a Masters degree in Chemistry or Biology.
- 0 years: Basic laboratory skills to include titration, volumetric measuring, and instrumental analysis.
- Technical writing skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
