Who We Are:
We evaluate the quality and performance of fuels and lubricants in both electrified and conventional vehicle applications. Our staff members evaluate alternative and conventional fuels and lubricants to meet manufacturer and industry certification standards.
Objectives of this Role:
- Perform fuel, lubricant, and other automotive testing, and work in a team to ensure client goals are met.
- Be a problem solver that exercises creativity in developing premier solutions for clients in government and industry.
- Write technical reports, papers, proposals and prepare technical presentations for client meetings and conferences; attend and present at conferences or other events to actively promote SwRI business.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Perform fuel, lubricant, and other automotive testing.
- Provide project leadership in the performance of tests to customer’s specifications.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Use engineering practices to ensure quality and compliance with test procedures.
- Summarize test data, complete reports, develop and report technical and financial details to clients and management.
- Maintain working relationships with clients in accomplishment of project objectives.
- Interact with laboratory and staff during project activity; interface with support groups in handling contractual, legal, accounting, fabrication and purchasing requirements.
- Develop innovative solutions to project problems and expand laboratory capabilities.
- Market SwRI services to current and prospective customers.
Requirements:
- Requires a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 0-2 years: Related Internships, Formula SAE, Team Baja, Shell Eco-Marathon or other activities related to Automotive Engineering
- Must be able to communicate effectively with clients and staff
- Must able to write and present technical papers as needed to further SwRI mission.
- Must have an interest in hybrid/electric vehicles, chassis dyno testing, fuel industry, blending, additives, or combustion engines
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.
