The Fire Department, City of New York (FDNY), seeks a full-time Solution Architect for CAD in the Bureau of Technology Systems and Development. Reporting directly to the Director of Application Development, the successful candidate will:Provide technical leadership and guidance to the CAD Application Development groupDesign and document the high-level architectural specifications of new applicationsMake and enforce decisions regarding technology, system workflow, database design and interface with other internal and external systemsDevelop best practices, strategies and methodologies for solution deliveryArchitect and design new applications from a component, security, workflow and integration standpointMaintain high-level understanding of technologies, procedures and concepts across multiple streamsUnderstand the current IT infrastructure deployed within FDNY specifically the Oracle Fusion Middleware Stack (including WebLogic, OBIEE, Oracle Access Manager, Oracle Unified Directory and Oracle Service Buss)Bring various initiatives, including mobility and external interfaces, to fruitionReview future technologies and create and maintain architectural roadmaps for development teamsMentor technical team membersServe as the escalation point for complex technical project issuesManage customer satisfaction by overseeing and leading technical work streams and managing client project expectations using a technical consulting teamDesign and present innovative technology implementations to senior management.

Minimum QualificationsA baccalaureate degree in computer science, engineering or a related field from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to IT automation engineering, monitoring engineering, management of infrastructure; orEight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to IT automation engineering, monitoring engineering, management of infrastructure;Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
Preferred SkillsOracle Fusion Middleware Stack Java Development and multiple J2EE frameworks especially Spring/Spring Boot, RESTful API Development and Design PatternsJavaScript Development especially with ReactJS and React NativeApplication security design principles and integration with identity management systems using different technologies such as Federation, SAML, OAuth, etc.Secure coding principles to build applications resilient to malicious attacksService oriented design as it works within the context of an application.Service orientation to enable integration of applications across different city agencies and vendors SOA Governance and SecurityOracle database design and development (SQL & PL/SQL) with respect to application developmentIntermediate-level proficiency with Windows and Linux operating systemsProven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environmentStrong leadership skills with the ability to motivate team members.
