The Engineering Tech creates owner’s manuals for our customers along with entering data that is provided to them by our engineering staff into our ERP system. They also assist our engineering department with various duties such as creating part numbers and following up on quotes to vendors. Other administrative and engineering related duties will be given to this individual based upon the workload. These may include detailing of parts in Autodesk Inventor.
The owner’s manuals are comprised of text files which may need modification to match the actual machines that were built. In addition, drawing files of the assemblies along with part numbers will be provided by engineering to allow a custom manual to be created. There may be custom text created to explain the operation of the machine, which would be created with the input from engineering and manufacturing.
Set-up sheets of the machines may also need to be created or modified due to a custom or newly designed machine. Set-up sheets will also need to be filled out digitally by entering the information from a hand-written version by the technician who tested the machine.
The Engineering Tech is expected to be able to critically evaluate the manuals to ensure that the correct information is provided to the customer as well as adequate information to properly set up and operate the machines it covers. With the ERP system, it is critically important to input the correct data accurately to ensure the proper items are ordered for the project.
