Job Description:
Job Title: Warehouse Trainer
Location: Hy-Vee Specialty Foods Warehouse
General Function:
Primarily responsible for training and cross training new hires and current employees as needed while following training and cross training requirements for the purpose of producing employees well equipped for the warehouse generalist position. Secondarily responsible for the selection and stacking of merchandise on pallets to be shipped to retail locations. Prepares orders including accurately selecting ordered items via voice automated selection system and palletization for shipment.

Accountable and Reports to (Job Title): Group Vice President, Specialty Foods Warehouse, Warehouse Manager, Specialty Foods Warehouse

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
• Adheres to company policies and departmental guidelines.
• Responsible for comprehensive and accurate training of new and existing employees in a timely fashion.
• Verifies that at the end of the training the trainee is fully equipped and capable of performing desired responsibilities.
• Ensures that all procedures are aptly explained and applied during training.
• Follows up with recent trainees to ensure that their work is effective and efficient as trained.
• Attends departmental and company meetings.
• Regularly meets with Training Coordinator for follow-ups and communicates effectively issues or solutions that may be helpful to the training program.

Secondary Responsibilities:
Excellence in duties and responsibilities delineated under the warehouse generalist title.
Education/Experience Required to Perform Job:
High School diploma. Basic computer knowledge preferred. One to three years of similar or related work experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail, follow through and proven administrative skills.
• Must have knowledge of warehouse policies, procedures, and safety.
• Follow and explain multi-step instructions.
• Become certified in all areas of performance in the warehouse.
• Must be able to meet flexible scheduling demands

Physical Requirements:

• Visual requirements include clarity of vision at distance of less than 20 inches and up to 20 feet or more with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
• Must be physically able to perform medium work: occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 50 pounds
• Must be able to perform the following physical activities: standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions

Equipment used to Perform Job:
Vocollect, warehouse handling equipment.
Working Conditions:
The duties for this position are normally conducted in a warehouse environment. There is continuous exposure to dirt, noise, temperature extremes, vibrations, equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents, and electrical shock.
