Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (Adolescents to Geriatrics)
Facility Type: General Emergency Department (Non-Trauma); Stroke and STEMI Certified
Job Summary: Nurses in this role will be caring for a diverse patient population, ranging from adolescents to geriatrics, within a busy, high-acuity Emergency Department. The unit is known for its high patient volume and the ability to provide specialized care for stroke and STEMI patients. Nurses will manage complex, acute cases, and should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide emergency care to patients ranging from adolescents to geriatrics in a non-trauma, high-acuity setting.
Care for patients with conditions like strokes and STEMI (ST-elevation myocardial infarction).
Work with a variety of patient conditions and diagnoses in a fast-paced and large emergency department.
Must be proficient in using Epic (required) and Pyxis for clinical systems.
Shifts and Scheduling:
Shifts: Variable, including 3p - 3a & 7p - 7a shifts.
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
Floating: Rare, but may be required in exceptional circumstances.
Unit Details:
Patient Ratio: 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio.
Census: 59-bed ER with an average of 165-175 patients per day.
Minimum Experience:
2 years of emergency nursing experience.
First-time travelers NOT accepted.
Certifications Required:
BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
NIH (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
