Job Description:

 

Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for our Huntsville, AL Headquarters location. The Project Engineer role involves performing and/or coordinating propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management. Under general direction, you will be responsible for implementing design and analysis tasks and overseeing special studies and experiments. Additionally, you will coordinate ballistic, thermal, and structural analyses, as well as perform post-test examination, analyses, and reporting while supporting the program technical lead.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • 70% Support engineering teams working on solid rocket motor development and production program tasks/problem resolution, etc., Coordinate engineering work; manage technical progress, risk , schedule, and cost as needed.
  • 10% Monitor technical progress and interface with Program Management, Aerojet Rocketdyne customers, and other Aerojet Rocketdyne functional organizations to understand and develop resolution to program technical issues.
  • 10% Provide technical consultation to Program Management and Business Development organizations for business development activities such as writing white papers or preparing and presenting technical briefings to customers.
  • 5% Support the technical lead on proposals to government customers or prime contractors for propulsion development or technology programs.
  • 5% Provide inputs to written and verbal status reports to Engineering lead, Aerojet Rocketdyne Management, and provide input and leadership at production team meetings. 
  • Use of engineering test equipment, CAD, and computer applications with various office and engineering software applications.
  • Use of variety of test and measurement equipment to evaluate data.
  • Interpret and evaluate engineering problems and statements.
  • Systems engineering principles in Requirements and Risk & Opportunity Management.
  • Theories, principles, and practices of engineering and project management methods.
  • Principles of budgets and schedule management for assigned project scope, such as Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Rocket propulsion component(s) and theory of operations.
  • Understanding and leading Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process.
  • Conduct technical and programmatic risk assessments. 
  • Balance technical scope, customer expectations, and business interests.
