*Job Description*

Physicians Laboratory Services, Inc is looking for a full-time, permanent, and competitive position as a *Histotechnologist*.

*Qualifications*

* Bachelors Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field required.
* Minimum of two years’ experience.
* ASCP Registered Histotechnologist.

*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:*

·Regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location.

· Prepare dyes and solutions for special and routine staining according to Laboratory procedure.

· Assign and record accession number and label specimen according to Laboratory procedure.

· Process tissue specimens on tissue processing equipment according to Laboratory procedure.

· Identify, position, and embed tissue specimens in paraffin to prepare for microtomy according to Laboratory procedure.

· Perform microtomy on paraffin embedded specimens as per Laboratory procedure.

· Place and fix on glass slide the cut tissue specimens according to Laboratory procedure so as to render quality cross-sections of tissue specimens ready for pathologist viewing.

· Maintain a clean and orderly work area according to safety standards and Laboratory image requirements.

· Perform and document requisite preventive maintenance procedures on specific laboratory instrumentation by following manufacturer's instructions to assure reliable and continuous performance.

· Contribute to the efficient operation of the Laboratory.

· Maintain confidentiality of all laboratory information according to Laboratory policy.

· Communicate Laboratory information to the necessary laboratory personnel and/or clients via verbal, written communication in a prompt, professional and courteous manner.

· Punctual and regular attendance at the assigned work location.

*TASKS:*

· Clean and maintain the surgical pathology preparation area.

· Prepare and maintain reagents of processing equipment.

· Perform routine maintenance of Histology equipment.

· Perform and document temperatures of Laboratory equipment.

· Rotate stock of reagents and supplies to maintain currency and continuity of stock.

· Performs all duties as assigned.

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
