Operations Supervisor, Microbiology
Piper Companies is seeking a skilled Operations Supervisor to support our global food safety and quality operations.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise laboratory personnel in conducting routine food sample analysis, ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Communicate client requirements to laboratory personnel and address procedural or operational difficulties with client service personnel.
- Read, calculate, and record analysis data, correcting discrepancies to produce accurate client reports.
- Administer corporate human resource programs related to recruitment, retention, compensation, training, and development.
- Educate and train departmental personnel on procedures and new analysis methods, recommending modifications as needed.
- Arrange work schedules, assist with analysis tasks, and maintain supplies and instrumentation for operating departments.
- Collaborate with Operations Manager or Lab Director to cease specific analyses when quality system evidence indicates a compromised process.
- Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and ensure employees are adequately trained.
- Stay updated on food science developments and support corporate quality and continuous improvement processes.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in laboratory operations and supervision.
- In-depth knowledge of food sample analysis, Standard Operating Procedures, and human resource management.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot procedural and operational challenges.
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
