Job Summary:
The Senior Manager of Payroll will lead and develop our payroll team while championing our company culture. This role requires a strategic mindset to scale our payroll department as our company continues to grow and develop. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on people leadership and development, ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing for 200+ locations that span across multiple states. Primary Responsibilities:
- Manages a team of payroll clerks and/or analysts that input payroll data and prepare payroll checks.
- Prepares reports or returns summarizing payroll-related expenditures.
- Aids in the execution of more complex calculations or payroll situations.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll, including payroll taxes, deductions, and benefits, in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
- Manage vendor relationships related to payroll processing and stay up-to-date on payroll software updates and technology advancements.
- Stay current with laws and regulations related to payroll and make recommendations for changes to policies and procedures as needed.
- Continuously evaluate payroll processes and systems to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Primarily focused on administering established policies and procedures, while having the opportunity to influence departmental budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural change.
Primary Skills and Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience in payroll processing, including at least 3 years of experience in a leadership role.
- Ability to be onsite 5 days a week.
- Comprehensive knowledge of payroll concepts and principles.
- Performs complex tasks typically following established processes.
- The ability to lead and direct the work of other employees while having full authority over personnel decisions.
- Bachelor's degree in HR, finance, accounting, or related field preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues related to payroll processing.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Workday payroll experience required.
