COVID VACCINATION PREFERRED FOR THIS FACILITYEMR - EPICThe Speech Language Pathologist evaluates, participates in diagnostic testing, and treats referred patients. And also participates as a member of the health care team. Responsibilities include:Acute, swing, and outpatient care.  The population is primarily geriatric, but there is opportunity to grow it more for an increased younger client volume.  The candidate should be proficient with modified barium swallow studies/swallow therapy as well as common ST treatments for aphasias, voice, cognitive therapy, etc. Clinical Practice:Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.Based on medical referral, medical record, and examination therapist evaluates, sets goals, plans, and executes treatment. Reports findings to other health care team members.Provides discharge recommendations, exercise programs, and family teaching, as appropriate.Determines the need to refer patients to other diagnostic, medical, and therapeutic services.Provides accurate and timely documentation and record keeping. Uses effective time management to coordinate scheduling of patients and meetings, and treats patients on time.Demonstrates competency with patient equipment appropriate to the work setting.Observes and evaluates treatment affect. Recommends change to physician, if needed.Performs an appropriate assessment on each patient, as related to the therapy requested and provided and reassessments, as per policy. This includes neonate, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population.Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching, as appropriate.Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
