PFIS is a visionary team within Global Medical Strategy and Operations in Medical Affairs comprised of dedicated and passionate experts with complementary and multidisciplinary backgrounds in health services research, epidemiology, clinical research, and implementation and behavioral sciences. We employ evidence-based approaches to address the challenges patients face in navigating their care to close the research-to-practice gap. This involves a systematic, patient-focused approach applying mixed methods, multilevel interventions, and collaborative solutions to address practical challenges in clinical care that impact the adoption of new innovations.This individual will collaborate with external multi-stakeholder ecosystem partners including health systems, clinicians, payers, community-based organizations, patient advocacy organizations, and professional societies to better understand patient needs, challenges, and opportunities to improve patient care; to inform future capabilities important to patients and the Gilead pipeline; and to build strong internal and external networks. This individual will work effectively in a complex matrixed internal environment to help guide strategy to shape and ensure patient needs/insights are considered and integrated into strategy and evidence generation activities to support product development and future launch plans. This individual will have the ability to work across all therapeutic areas, globally and by region, to ensure the successful completion of deliverables and provide strategic, technical, and operational leadership to identify and incorporate innovation across industry benchmarks.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Identify, lead, and co-create implementation science initiatives for medical affairs and the enterprise to improve patient access and optimize patient care.Support and continue to evolve Patient-Focused Implementation Science strategy; create authentic platforms and opportunities to understand what matters most to patients to incorporate into strategic planning.Deliver relevant and actionable insights to inform organizational decisions that address comprehensive care needs.Lead initiatives related to patient experience, including measuring and addressing patient perspectives, preferences, attitudes, and beliefs.Generate individual and community insights to inform Medical Affairs strategic planning and identify evidence gaps.Apply human-centered design principles to develop innovative, practical solutions to improve patient and healthcare provider communication, enhance patient-centered decision-making, and increase patient activation.Leverage design thinking methodologies to identify pain points and co-create interventions that improve patient care and outcomes.Design and implement mixed-methods and multilevel interventions to address practical challenges in clinical care and improve patient outcomes.Utilize a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods to develop comprehensive solutions that are both evidence-based and patient-focused.Lead the ideation and execution of research projects, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.Disseminate findings through abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations at scientific conferences.Lead components of cross-functional patient-focused operating model with key functional partners and collaborate with other evidence generating functions to facilitate Gilead patient centricity, strategy, and tactics with focus on care coordination, navigation, and patient-centered decision making.Participate as a recognized leader, expert, and spokesperson internally and externally on matters of critical importance for Patient-Focused Implementation Science, presenting at congresses, round tables, advisory boards, and educational events.Knowledge, Experience and Skills:Advanced scientific degree with 7-10 years of implementation science experience.Experience in Pharma/Biopharma preferred.Scientific or clinical experience in one or more of the following: HIV treatment and prevention (preferred), oncology (breast, lung, GI, gynecologic, etc.), or inflammatory diseases.Experience in implementation science methods, program evaluation, quality improvement, person-centered care, and outcomes measurement, including experience leveraging digital health solutions and novel use of PROs, PREMs, and data generated on the patient experience.Experience in leading collaborative initiatives and multi-site research partnerships, including proposal development, protocol writing, study execution, and data analysis.Strong analytic, critical thinking, writing, and problem-solving skills.Creative, well-spoken, and articulate; ability to effectively communicate with multi-stakeholder collaborators and to deliver impactful presentations.Strong ability to collaborate across multiple internal and external partners.Uncompromising ethical standard and professional conduct.Innovative and adaptable, with a team mindset.Additional Capabilities: Managing complexity, comfort with ambiguity, prioritization, problem-solving, communication, project management, and collaborative style.Basic Qualifications:Masters' Degree or PhD with at least 12 years of professional experience.The salary range for this position is: $281,010.00 - $363,660.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives, paid time off, and a benefits package.
