Who we are:
In September 2013, our founder, Helene Henderson opened the original casual counter service cafe at the end of the Malibu Pier. In July 2015, she opened a second full service restaurant at the beginning of the pier. A few years later in Lido Marina Village, and in 2023 we flew north to outside San Francisco in Tiburon and south to San Diego at Seaport Village. We even ventured across the ocean to Lanai, HI, to the BIG APPLE, New York, NY and even sprouted seeds abroad to Japan. Although we have grown like wild weeds we are still a locally owned small business. Our food is super simply prepared, there are no secret ingredients, and many of you have been to my home picking produce and cooked the very same recipes we use at all our locations. Malibu Farm San Diego opened their doors in September of 2023 in the heart of Seaport Village.

Who you are:

The Assistant Manager will work closely with the General Manager to provide leadership and support to both our Front of House and Back of House teams. A crucial aspect of this role will be daily collaboration with shift leads to ensure we consistently deliver exceptional service. Additionally, the Assistant Manager will play a vital role in educating and supporting the Malibu Farm San Diego team, with the goal of creating the best possible experience for both our guests and employees.

What you'll do:

  • Ensure smooth daily operations of the dining floor maintaining high service standards
  • Work closely with the Executive Chef and General Manager to align service with kitchen operations
  • Provide a welcoming and professional experience for all guests handling any concerns or special requests efficiently
  • Exhibit expert knowledge of the beverage and kitchen stations.
  • Remain current and compliant with the correct HR practices and policies, holding employees accountable to all standards and practices, evaluating and/or following disciplinary procedure when necessary.
  • Ensure that the payroll process is completed accurately, on time and according to business/accounting procedures.
  • Ensure Health Department compliance as it pertains to the operation.
  • Provides feedback and guidance with excellence and hospitality in mind, ensuring that all team members have a pathway for growth and development.
  • Consistently looks for internal and external opportunities to build our growing team.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed and other duties as assigned to support team objectives and operational success.
  • Oversee reservations table assignments and waitlist management for optimal guest flow
  • Monitor table turnover order accuracy and overall dining efficiency
  • Assist in handling high-traffic periods and resolving any operational challenges
  • Address customer feedback improve service strategies and implement solutions to enhance guest satisfaction
