Overview:

The Surgical/Med-Surg Unit is a 32-bed unit that houses patients recovering after surgery. Colon resections, hip replacements, urological procedures, and appendectomies are seen. We also have Med/Surg overflow, treating pneumonia, COPD, and chest pain.

A variety of skills can be developed on this unit, including JP drains, wound vacs, NGT's, and chest tubes.

Patients typically stay for a short period before being discharged home. Nurses work 12-hour shifts in a fast-paced, friendly environment.

Qualifications:

• Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
• Licensure: Maintains current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure, meeting all state board of nursing requirements.
• Physical requirements:
  • Prolonged standing and walking each shift
  • Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
• Experience: Can be a new or experienced RN.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.
