Intellectual Property Counsel

Position Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Intellectual Property Counsel with a robust background in biotechnology to join our legal team. This role will involve managing and strategizing intellectual property (IP) portfolios, patent prosecution, and IP litigation with a specific focus on radiopharmaceuticals and monoclonal antibodies. The ideal candidate will have significant in-house experience at biotech organizations, preferably with a publicly traded company.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and execute IP strategies to protect the companys innovations, focusing on radiopharmaceuticals and monoclonal antibodies.

Manage patent portfolios, including prosecution, defense, and strategic alignment with business goals.

Collaborate with R&D teams to identify patentable inventions and guide the preparation of patent applications.

Oversee IP litigation and disputes, coordinating with external counsel when necessary.

Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses, IP risk assessments, and due diligence for licensing, acquisitions, and collaborations.

Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and relevant legal developments to ensure IP strategies remain current and effective.

Provide counsel on IP-related matters to cross-functional teams, including regulatory, business development, and executive leadership.

Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements pertaining to intellectual property.

Qualifications:

J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

Minimum of 7 years of in-house experience in the biotech industry; public company experience strongly preferred.

Extensive experience in patent prosecution and defense, particularly in radiopharmaceuticals and monoclonal antibodies.

Strong understanding of U.S. and international IP laws and regulations.

Demonstrated ability to manage complex IP portfolios and develop effective strategies in alignment with business objectives.

Exceptional communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.

Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical degree (e.g., biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or related field).

USPTO registration or equivalent.
