Qualifications
- Education: Must meet the education requirement for diagnostic medical ultrasound or echocardiography ultrasound certification with either CCI or ARDMS; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Entry level, at least 1 year of clinical experience (including time spent in an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program) - must have at least 6 months scanning experience.
- License/Certification: Registered Vascular Technologist certification required within 12 months of hire. ARDMS or ARRT (S) certification required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Responsibilities
- Performs appropriate ultrasound procedures and records anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.
- Assists the physician in gathering sonographic data necessary to diagnose a variety of conditions and diseases.
- Obtains, reviews, and integrates pertinent patient medical history and supporting clinical data to facilitate optimum diagnostic results.
- Provides patient education related to medical ultrasound.
- Records and processes sonographic data.
- Provides patient services in a variety of medical settings.
- Performs quality assurance checks on equipment, ensuring proper safety standards are met.
