Charge Nurse - MedSurg, Surgical Neuro at Piedmont Newton Hospital summary:

As a Charge Nurse in the Surgical Neuro unit at Piedmont Newton, I oversee the delivery of quality nursing care to patients with diverse needs, including post-surgical management and neurological conditions. I manage staffing, communicate with leadership regarding patient care and departmental issues, and provide clinical support as necessary. With a strong focus on patient safety and operational efficiency, I ensure that both patients and staff receive the support they require during my shift.

Our Surgery and Neuro unit at Piedmont Newton offers the following:

Bedside documentation devices in every room

Tele Neuro consults and rounding

Rooms on same floor as Surgery Department

Management of patients having or requiring:

Post-surgical management including general surgery and hysterectomies

TIA, Stroke, Seizures and other Neuro diagnoses

General Acute Care Needs

RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Coordinates the delivery of quality nursing care for patients from birth through the lifecycle, as well as operational issues during his/her shift. Provides clinical care as needed when census demands. Communicates patient care, departmental issues, and staff concerns to the appropriate leader(s). Serves as resource for guidance and assistance to the staff.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of a nursing program.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
One year of nursing experience in a hospital setting required.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. BLS certification required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Two or more years of nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred. Bachelor's degree preferred. Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable. Demonstrated clinical competency.
