Senior Design Engineer at CPC summary:

As a Senior Design Engineer at Colder Products Company, you will lead product development from conceptualization to launch while collaborating with cross-functional teams and engaging with customers to meet new technology needs. Your role involves resolving product performance issues and adhering to safety regulations within a supportive and ethical culture. With over 7 years of experience in design and product development, you will contribute to innovations in fluid handling for life sciences and industrial applications.

Colder Products Company (CPC) is the leading provider of quick disconnect couplings, fittings and connectors for plastic tubing. At CPC, we believe that fluid handling should be safe and easy. We engineer our connection solutions to improve the overall functionality and design of  equipment and processes for the life sciences, industrial, and chemical handling markets. Special features of our products include precise hose barbs for superior grip, built-in shutoff valves for preventing spills, and easy-to-use, push-button thumb latches for quick connecting and disconnecting. CPC is a Dover company based in St. Paul with global offices and operations in Europe and Asia.

 

Your Role

Responsibilities:

  • Develop products from conceptualization to launch
  • Collaborates and consults with Test, Tooling, Manufacturing and Quality Engineers in support of new product development
  • Interacts with customers and suppliers as needed to assess new technology needs
  • Partner with Product management and Sales to create solutions for a growing Biopharmaceutical market
  • Leads or assists in efforts to resolve product performance issues
  • Adheres to all safety regulations
  • Demonstrates support of CPC core values
  • Performs other job duties as required to meet business needs.

 

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, or another related field.
  • 7+ years of design and product development experience
  • Curious, creative, and tenacious problem solver

  • CAD proficiency – PTC Creo, Solidworks, etc
  • Knowledge and grasp of rapid prototyping techniques and manufacturing methods
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Demonstrated history of design innovation
  • Energetic and enthusiastic approach toward the definition of new products, complimented by an educated and realistic business outlook
  • 5+ years’ experience in design of mass-produced products such as automotive, appliances, toys, etc.
  • Competent in the design and development of plastic components.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Design experience with fluid handling components for industrial applications.
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485, medical device, or medical device components
  • Familiarity with RFID, electromechanical devices
  • Familiarity with Biopharmaceutical processing equipment and/or processes
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Injection molding understanding or experience
  • Basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis
  • Experience developing new products utilizing a stage gate process from idea and opportunity qualification to launch and sustaining.

    • This range is the pay scale for this role in Minnesota. Individual compensation is based on skills, experience, and qualifications related to this position.
