Scope of Position
This position serves as a key component of the administrative operations of the OSUCCC Cancer Program (Comprehensive Cancer Center and The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute). This includes (The James) one of the largest cancer hospitals in the country which is, 1.1-million-square-foot, 21 levels, and 300+ beds, and the OSU CCC that consists of over 300 faculty members (and 300+ staff) and promotes translational research across all colleges within OSU to which OSUCCC members belong. The Executive Assistant manages and provides lead administrative support to the office of the Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. The Executive Assistant works under minimal supervision and is responsible for the efficient operations and professional image of the Office of the OSU CCC- James.
Position Summary
The Executive Assistant assists and advises numerous the Chief Nursing Officer and Associate Executive Director Clinical Operations and others with respect to various Cancer Program activities; attends meetings representing the Office of OSU CCC-James; serves as the liaison with other OSU leadership offices (e.g., OSUWMC CEO, OSU President, Provost, etc.) as well as board members, high level officials from granting/outside agencies, hospital executives and departmental heads, staff, college deans, departmental chairpersons, faculty, physicians, patients, VIP patients, visiting dignitaries and the general public. The Executive Assistant utilizes considerable discretion and discriminating judgment in dealing with high level officials and matters of a highly confidential and sensitive nature; serves as liaison for recruiting and retainment initiatives between the Cancer Program and various departments and/or colleges; oversees the completion of special projects as assigned; assists with major administrative duties; confers with various CCC- James Executive Leaders regarding daily activities to meet deadlines and priorities; produces a variety of materials (i.e., reports, proposals, documents, correspondence, minutes, charts, tables, surveys, questionnaires, etc.) of a high confidential or sensitive nature from rough draft, dictation or brief oral instructions. Maintains skills and knowledge regarding medical terminology, familiarity with university and medical center policies and procedures, attention to detail, ability to coordinate multiple projects, and excellent public relation skills.

Required Qualifications
Per CCS - Six months experience (600 hours training) using computers to generate a variety of materials ranging from basic to complex; 6 mos. experience (600 hrs. course work) in office practices and procedures; 6 months experience (600 hours course work) in customer service. Some positions require one year related medical secretarial experience or completion of an associates degree program with three courses in medical terminology plus 3 mos. experience (300 hours training) in use of word processing equipment, consistent with position description. Some positions require 6 mos. experience (600 hrs. course work) in supervision consistent with position description.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree and minimum 2 years of experience.
