HIGH SCHOOL SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER
The Wattsburg Area School District is looking for a Special Education Teacher anticipated March 2025.
Shift: Full time, regular school schedule
Salary Range: Minimum of $44,325 based on degree(s), prorated.
Benefits: Full employer paid medical while employed.
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated educator to teach Emotional Support. The ideal candidate will be certified in Special Education. Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in a related field are eligible and will be considered. This is a full-time position.
Key Responsibilities:
· Teach assigned students/classes the approved curriculum.
· Engages students actively and meaningfully through lesson design, instruction, and assessment.
· Identifies and implements appropriate instructional practices and methods to meet students’ varying ability levels and special needs.
· Uses an appropriate variety and number of assessments to determine student academic progress.
· Provides written feedback to students on assessed material on a regular basis.
· Implements the IEP requirements of special needs students.
· Establishes communication with parents through a variety of means to inform them of academic and behavioral progress and achievement.
· Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations, including all mandated special education paperwork.
· Develops appropriate IEPs with measureable annual goals and SDIs based on student’s needs.
· Collaborates with regular education teachers and other staff to provide support, adaptations and modifications for students on their caseload.
· Attends all required special education trainings and in-services as specified by the supervisor of special education.
· Attends special education meetings (IEP/ER/RR) and building level team meetings as appropriate.
· Maintains confidentiality with student information.
Qualifications:
· Certified Special Education Teacher.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Effective written and oral communication skills.
· Self-motivated and adept at problem solving and critical thinking.
· Ability to work as part of a team.
Required Clearances:
· Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances, Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training; and
· Act 168 Sexual Abuse/Misconduct Disclosure; and
· Health physical and tuberculin skin test required.
