Job Description
Position Description:
The Itinerant Teacher of Gifted/Talented is responsible for providing gifted or talented services to qualifying students per the student's IEP.
Scope of Responsibility:
Develops an appropriate curriculum in order to meet the needs of each G/T student as dictated by the IEP.
Completes accurately and on time all IEPs, progress reports, service logs and any other required documentation.
Writes/facilitates IEPs for G/T students.
Creates an aesthetic environment in which students can develop their individual talents. When applicable, provides opportunities for students to demonstrate their talents to appropriate audiences.
Participates in annual exhibits/performances sponsored by the G/T department.
Screens students for possible G/T eligibility.
Ability to travel to multiple school sites.
Attends all required professional developments.
Utilizes the high-quality curriculum that is being implemented by the district as applicable.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Gifted/Talented, ESY, Assistive Technology Coordinator.
Skills and Qualifications:
We seek detail-oriented, independent self-starters who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to raising student achievement and who have a record of high performance in challenging situations.
Successful candidates will also demonstrate:
Bachelor's degree and a valid Louisiana teaching certificate or Ancillary certification in gifted, talent music, visual arts or drama.
Master's degree (gifted teachers).
Proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point and Google Suite.
Knowledge of the Individualized Education Process.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to use data to make decisions and recommendations.
Desirable Qualifications:
Doctorate degree.
Physical Involvement:
Must be able to operate office equipment.
Standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting up to 10 pounds is required.
