Position Function:
The Department of Sustainable Bioproducts and the School of Architecture at Mississippi State University is seeking to fill a 9-month, tenure track, full-time position for the Mississippi Lumber Manufacturers Association endowed professorship. The Associate/Full professor position will help develop and conduct a program of research, teaching and service responsibilities in forest products and sustainable bioproducts with an emphasis on wood and mass timber in housing, green building, timber-based modular design, hybrid mass timber construction, and will teach studios focused on the exploration and application of mass timber design.

The Department of Sustainable Bioproducts, College of Forest Resources, and the School of Architecture (housed in the College of Architecture, Art+ Design) are both located on campus at Mississippi State University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include developing and conducting a program of teaching, research, and service in the Sustainable Bioproducts Department and the School of Architecture. Program area emphasis will be in sustainable bioproducts, architecture, forest and natural resources, or an affiliated area. The candidate will be expected to build a nationally recognized program and extramurally funded mass timber research program with federal, internal and external stakeholders, which will provide internal and external service and outreach.
Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate must possess a Ph.D. from an accredited institution of higher learning in forest products, forest and/or natural resources, and/or professional licensure and a degree in architecture as appropriate. Experience teaching with design studio required. The applicant must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and will be expected to develop a national reputation in program as well as maintain a focus on adding value to state-, regional-, and national-based stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:
Particular consideration will be given to candidates with expertise, experience, and/or high potential in the topics outlined above along with demonstrated experience in teaching, research, and candidates with design studio teaching experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of forest products and architecture. Skilled in using and conducting programs through multiple media avenues (internet, interactive video, distance learning, etc.). Experience teaching with design studio.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Physical requirements will be consistent with those associated with the incumbent's research and service program.
